Higher Colleges of Technology National Conference for Teacher Educators: Practising Innovation in UAE Schools: April 29th 2009

The 7th Annual Teacher Education Conference will be held at Sharjah Women’s College on Wednesday, April 29th 2009, under the theme “Practising Innovation in Education in UAE Schools”.

The UAE is experiencing extensive change and reform in its school system as all sectors face the opportunities and challenges of preparing students for the knowledge society. This conference will focus on some of the key issues and strategies of this reform process and focus on examples of best practice currently being employed in UAE classrooms.

Speakers from the Ministry of Education and other renowned international institutions will outline current reform strategies, plans for implementation and describe recent initiatives within the UAE education system.
Current research being carried out with in the UAE school system will also be described and discussed.

Workshops focusing on teaching and learning in the classroom will also be held for a range of sectors, including English teaching, teaching maths and science in English, educational technology, classroom research in the UAE, early childhood education, mentoring student teachers and special needs provision within the UAE.

Under the theme Practising Innovation in UAE Schools and Education in the UAE, this conference will attract over 500 attendees from across a wide range of educational sectors and providers throughout the United Arab Emirates. They will include teachers from the government and private sectors, teacher education students from government and non-government institutions, and key representatives from the Ministry of Education, the regional educational zones, the regional educational councils and key reform agencies.
