Higher
Colleges of Technology, Sharjah Women’s College (SWC) placed
first in all four events at the HESF (Higher Education
Sports Federation) semi finals which took place at the SWC
Sports Complex on October 11, 2004. One of the few educational
institutions that participated in every event, SWC competed
in basketball, table tennis, badminton and chess.
Over
300 athletes and spectators were present at the event, including
competing teams from University of Sharjah,
Abu Dhabi Women’s
College, Zayed University Dubai & Abu Dhabi, University of
Wollongong, American University of Sharjah, Al Ghurair University
and Ajman University.
The
clean sweep was a terrific victory for Sharjah Women’s
College, whose teams have been training rigorously since the beginning
of semester, with coaching sessions up to three times a week.
“The commitment and talent of our athletes was apparent
yesterday and we are proud of their success,” said Amal Al
Maktoum, Student Services Coordinator at Sharjah Women’s
College. “This commitment is the reason that SWC has won
two gold medals in the HESF final tournament over the last two
years,” she said.
The SWC sports teams have also secured generous, new sponsorship
agreements with golden sponsor, National Bank of Dubai and silver
sponsor, Al Fardan Exchange.
“We are delighted to announce our new partnerships with
these prestigious organizations. We thank National Bank of Dubai
and Al Fardan Exchange for their help in supporting our team,” said
Al Maktoum.
The first semester finals of this competition will take place
on December 13, 2004, also at the SWC Sports Complex, and will
